What is a Girls Circle?

  • 8-Week Circle for young girls;  ages 8 - 12

  • Wednesdays, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

  • Begins October 10th - Dec 12th, skipping October 31st and Nov 21st.

  • Brooklyn, New York

Gloetry Assembly is creating a girls circle, where we give the most curious and vulnerable age group a safe space to cultivate self-image, values, and emotional intelligence. When young women have the chance to reflect on life, daily happenings and talk about their emotions, they actively work on their own sense of self.  A girl with a healthy dose of self-esteem has the best defense against life’s challenges .

After leading many women’s circles over the past 2 years, it became clear to Karmay that we need to give younger girls tools to express themselves and deal with the difficult emotional situations they will face as they grow up. We want to create a space where young girls are empowered to use their voice, have a sense of belonging and sisterhood rather than competition. We believe that when we heal a generation we are healing all past and future generations, and that if we teach girls to lead with their hearts, we are creating a much more compassionate world.

MISSION

For girls to have open and honest dialogue around topics that will expand awareness, cultivate empathy, and build emotional intelligence. We believe that our carefully curated topics will allow them to have healthier relationships with the people around them, including themselves.

To provide them with the space to share their stories, be heard, be inquisitive, problem solve and reflect. We want them to feel confident in who they are, know how to heal themselves, work through emotional situations and feel the power of trusting oneself. We are strengthening their self-image, body image, and arming them with lifelong values.

This is a brief highlight of the types of conversations to be discussed:

  • Feeling/Emotions + Self- Worth - 2 Sessions

    • Discuss how the actions of others impact our emotions.

    • Identify how emotions feel in our bodies.

    • Provide emotional vocabulary?

    • Define self-worth?

    • Define empathy?

  • The Power of our Voice/Words - 2 Sessions

    • Why are words important?

    • Review how we use our own voice.

    • Talk about healthy communication.

    • Talk about the power how we use our words.

  • What Does it Mean to be a Sensitive Person

    • Is being sensitive a bad thing or a good thing?

    • Is it okay to cry?

    • Do you seek comfort when you cry or do you want to be alone?

    • Have you ever made someone cry

    • What does the world telling you about crying?

  • Self-love Tools

    • Journaling

    • Meditation

    • The dangers of gossiping

    • Positive self-talk vs negative self-talk/Affirmations

    • Acts of Kindness
